Side Hustles 101 with MiMi - What to know before starting your side hustle

One of the most popular questions I get at fashion shows or at my day job is 'how do you balance your side hustle with your day job?'  My response is that I'm living my passion so I don't tend to differentiate between my day job and the fashion job.  Is it easy?  Nope.  Sometimes, I lean pretty close to choosing between being a busy lawyer and accountant or a busy business owner.  Then, I remember why I do what I do and I fall in love all over again with my life.

Another thing I hear quite often is folks saying 'I'm going to do what you do.'   That's great and all, but I always just think everyone should do what works for them.  There is at least one thing I know for a fact you are an expert at.....YOU.  Who knows us as much as we know ourselves (inspite of what your mother tells you).  We each have our own unique life experiences, traits and personalities and that should be celebrated.  Whether you move on with living your passion, doing you or just trying to survive the daily grind, map your own path with what you have to offer.  Figure it out and have fun!

After some prodding  from some persistent friends and colleagues, I've decided to start a 'Side Hustles 101 with MiMi' segment.  Are you interested in starting your own business, figuring out what side hustle works well for you, trying to quit or day job to follow your dreams or seeking your creative mix?  Then hang out here and let me know what topics you'd like to see addressed in this segment!
